1.10.20 - Harvest Festival

Today we learned about why people in a Britain celebrate Harvest Festival. We sang some songs and looked at some videos of people harvesting their crops and giving food to less fortunate people. The children then enjoyed helping the tractors gather grains in the continuous provision area! Finally, we said a prayer to thank God for the fruits and vegetables we eat.

25.09.20- The Five Senses

This morning we reviewed our five senses as a class. For smell we had a variety of things such as curry powder, garlic, star anise and tea tree oil. For taste we tried some strawberries and lemons. For hearing we played a 'guess the sound' game. For touch we put on blindfolds and guessed what we we were touching in the feely bags. For sight we looked through kaleidoscopes.

21.09.20 - Fundamental Skills

This morning, Coach Andy from South Ribble Sports Partnership came to school for the first time and worked with the children to build on their "fundamental skills", including moving while navigating the space, balancing, throwing, and catching.

18.09.20 - Summer Walk

This morning, we went on an adventure and explored all around the school grounds. The children shared some iPads and took pictures of anything they could find that reminded them of the summer season. For example, green leaves, shadows from the sun, insects, etc. We had a look at the pictures back in class and discussed what we found.

WB 14.09.20 - "About Me" Show and Tell

During the summer holidays, we asked Beech Class to fill some bags with their favourite toys/keepsakes/photos, etc., that would help their classmates learn all about them! Each afternoon, the children took it in turns to talk about everything they had brought, as well as answer some questions from their friends.

WB 07.09.20 - Welcome to Reception!

We would like to say a huge welcome to all the children joining us at Leyland Methodist Schools this year! After three days of "Stay and Play" sessions with all our parents and carers, the children got stuck into their new routines and had a good look through all of the fantastic resources we have to help us learn and grow!
