At Leyland Methodist, we are lucky enough to have LOTS of outdoor space for the children to explore. Having access to our outdoor classroom allows the children opportunities to develop gross motor skills that will help them to become more skillful writers. Our construction area allows children to work together to build and create with crates, tyres, planks and other large materials. Our sand and water areas allow children to develop their understanding of the world, and how materials can be manipulated and changed. Finally, our climbing area encourages the children to take risks and develop their balance and hand-eye co-ordination.
Our Reception children always enjoy our bi-weekly visits to Forest School. This is an incredibly enriching learning experience, where the children are able to explore a safe and enclosed outdoor space and develop their understanding of the natural world around them. Here, they can access the mud kitchen, take part in den building and hunt for plenty of mini beasts.
Within God’s love for everyone, Our school family is committed to serve by:
- celebrating everyone’s unique God-given talents;
- giving the best of ourselves for all the world;
- doing all the good we can together.
