Ash Class Homework


Please download the relevant week's homework sheet and practice phonics with your child:

Pictures and Captions Writing Frames - Look at the pictures and think of a simple caption to write below. For example, the first picture would be "Pat a dog." or "Pat the dog" or "A hand pats a dog." Use your phonics to segment the sounds in each word to help you write the captions. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops in your sentences.


Below are some phonics games to help the children practice what they've learned:

Real or Nonsense Word Activity: In Year 1, the children will have a "Phonics Screening Check" - One of the activities in this check is for the children to blend to read a word and decide whether or not it is a real word or tricky word. You can use this activity to help practice blending phonetically decodable words and sorting them into "Bob" if they are real or "Obb" if they are nonsense words. This activity will require lots of blending/discussion about the word.
