Phase 2 Phonics Letters SoundsLast week we completed the end of our phase 2 phonics. We will now spend our weeks up until Christmas reviewing these sounds, as it is important that children are fully immersed and secure in their use of phase 2 sounds before moving onto phase 3. We will be using our remaining time in Autumn term 2 to develop their confidence in phase 2 word blending, as this is an incredibly important foundation on which we will build their future phonics knowledge.
Buried TreasureAn interactive learning game where children must use their blending knowledge to read the word and decide if it is a real word or a fake word (pressing the back button will allow you to change the difficulty of the game).
Phase 2 Set 4: ck e u r Blending PracticePlease watch the following video to help you and your child practice the ck, e, u, and r graphemes and their phonemes, as taught using the Letters and Sounds scheme.
Phase 2 High Frequency WordsHigh Frequency Words are common words that appear lots of times in books, e.g. it, is, an, and, etc. The children can use their phonics to blend them to read and should practice reading them frequently.
