VE Day

In remembrance of the 75th anniversary for VE day, this week for history we will be learning about the significance of VE day and why it is such an important day.

Your first task is to read through the powerpoint slides. It would be very helpful to have an adult sat beside you to read along with you so that you can both discuss the information. If there are anymore questions you still have about VE day that weren’t answered in the slides you could research your questions together!

After reading the slides, pick one or more of the following tasks:

  1. VE Day discussion worksheet; share what you have learned about VE day and your thoughts and opinions about it.
  2. Create a WW2 Spitfire Glider by folding up the picture. Record a video of yourself explaining why aircrafts were so important to WW2 soldiers.
  3. Decorate your house with red, white and blue decorations. Explain why you think we choose these colours for VE Day.
  4. Wartime recipe book; have a look at the recipes for meals that people made during WW2 and have a go at one of them yourself. Why do you think ingredients were so sparse at that time?
  5. Design a VE Day medal.

As always, we hope you are all safe and well and enjoying your learning! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us by Seesaw or email!
