Welcome

Executive Headteacher Welcome

Welcome to our Leyland Methodist Schools! This website aims to give you a taster of school life, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils.

Leyland Methodist Schools is a federation of Leyland Methodist Infant School and Leyland Methodist Junior School. We have an intake number of 70 pupils per year group with 192 pupils in our Infant School (aged 4 to 7) and 270 pupils (aged 7 to 11) in our Junior School.

Our Infant School building is semi open plan, which allows for spacious and flexible use of the environment. Our Junior School has large classrooms and the two schools sit in extensive grounds, housing a Sports Zone, pond and forest schools area and as well as an inner courtyard for more quieter reflection. Our buildings date from 1964 (Juniors) and 1973 (Infants).

In recent years, our schools have undergone a refurbishment of classrooms, with improved accessibility including new gymnastic equipment in our Junior hall and a wonderful Early Years area. We love our libraries, which are stunning and makes us all want to read just that little bit more! We are very excited about our outdoor Narnia trail, where you meet our very own Mr Tumnus and the mighty Aslan in the school grounds. We have now extended this trail so pupils and staff alike can undertake their daily mile of physical activity!

During their time with us, our children grow and learn in a well-supported community with close links to Leyland Methodist Church. Deacon Ellen is a frequent visitor and loves to visit our young people. We are fortunate that both our schools sit adjacent to each other on the same site. From 1st April 2020, the two schools entered into a formal federation, which bring our Infant and Junior Schools together. I feel very privileged to be the Executive Headteacher over both schools. The working partnership between the two schools continues to grow and flourish with both schools absolutely committed to seeing the children’s education as a seven year journey not just the phase of time they have with each of us.

Our children are an inspiration. They are well behaved and show responsible attitudes to learning. They are very articulate and are keen to take on responsibilities such as the School Council, Ethos Team and the Eco Council. In addition I am very proud of their work as reading buddies to younger children in the Infant School. It is an absolute pleasure to be their executive headteacher.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. For prospective parents wishing to know more about how to apply place for a place at our Infant School, please visit the section tab marked 'Parents' and follow the first item on the drop down tab for new starters' information. Please feel free to leave comments in the Guestbook, or contact the school direct with any queries you may have.

Thank you for visiting!

Kind Regards,
Mr Andrew Clowes
