New Starters - Reception

New Starters' to Reception Year 2023

We were very excited to receive our list of new starter names today. At this moment in time, it is looking like all places will be taken and that we will have a full cohort of 70 children. We are currently putting together our plans for our September 2023 new reception children. Mrs Melling, our Executive Headteacher, will be writing shortly to all parents whose children have been offered a place for September. This letter will ask parents to formally accept the place. Following this confirmation we will be sending out details of the 2023 induction programme. Please keep an eye on this page for updates.

New Starters' 2024

Welcome

Thank you for considering Leyland Methodist Infant School as one of your primary school admissions choices. Information on this page is designed to support you in the application process and give a little taste of what life is like through the eyes of our pupils. Once school places have been allocated (March 2024), this page will also be used to provide details for our pupils starting with us in September 2024.

All applications for starting school for the Reception Year 2024 are made via Lancashire County Council. Applications open 1st September 2023 for children starting school in September 2024. Please visit our Admissions section of our website for details about how to apply using the Key Info tab and Admissions can be found in the drop down menu.

Open Evening

Plans are in place to host open evenings in September and October 2023.

What happens once an offer of a place has been made?

Once Lancashire Pupil Access Team notify us of our new children for our September 2023 cohort, we will be send letters out in late April to the parents of our new children. This letter will ask new parents to confirm their acceptance of a place for September 2023.

Once we have received place confirmation from parents, we will ask for further information including:

  • a copy of your child's birth certificate
  • signed permission slip for your child to be included in school photographs, social media etc.
  • signed permission slip for your child's participation in trips in the local area
  • signed confirmation of your acceptance of our 'Acceptable Use Policy for IT and other technology related devices
  • eligibility information for those parents who may feel their circumstances qualify for school to receive a Pupil Premium Grant and free school meals for their child. (Please note all children qualify for a Universal Free School Meal until the year in which they turn 7 years old. However, some families will qualify for free school meals under the Pupil Premium Grant  based on financial income to the home. School also receives additional funding to support the children eligible for this grant.)

In addition, we will send information about the New Starters' timetable for events for the Summer term to get your child ready for school in September. So please watch this space...

New Starters' Information Video 2021

We were unable to meet the parents face-to-face for our New Starters' Information Meeting 2021 due to the pandemic, so we put together a short information video.
