About Tiddlywinks
We are a private pre-school, located in Leyland Methodist School, and provide for 2 – 4 year olds in and around the Leyland area. We are a member of the Early Years Alliance, a national charity committed to quality in Early Years Education.
Tiddlywinks is registered with and inspected by Ofsted and provides ‘GOOD’ quality education in accordance with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021). The setting is overseen by the owner, Mrs Gill Conway, a qualified early years teacher and Early Year Professional. The day-to-day running of Tiddlywinks is carried out by the manager, Miss Gillian Tyrer and supported by suitably qualified early years staff. We also encourage the help of volunteer workers and parents and provide placements for students following appropriate courses.
We have completed the ‘Lancashire Quality Award’ following a number of years of intensive work to ensure quality across all areas of our provision.
Tiddlywinks works closely with Leyland Methodist Schools and follow the same term time holiday pattern. We accept children in September, January and April and are open Monday to Friday from 9.00am till 3.00pm.
All children are funded for 15 hours each week from the term following their 3rd birthday. There is also funding available for an additional 15 hours each week for 3 year olds of working parents.
Funding is also available for children of working parents from the term following their 2nd birthday and for some other 2 years olds dependant on family circumstances.
Links for funding are available on our website and support will be available from staff at the setting if needed.

Mission Statement
At Tiddlywinks we believe that young children learn best in full partnership with their carers and the community and in a structured, non-threatening environment which is interesting, exciting and stimulating. Staff are responsive to the individual needs of each child and committed to helping children to learn through exploration and first hand, well-structured play experiences. Children are encouraged to become independent in skills, their thinking and in the choices they make.
We intend that children will leave Tiddlywinks confident, successful learners, happy in who they are and eager to continue their learning as they grow and move on, having a sensitivity and concern for the needs of those around them and the wider world.
