Welcome to Summer 1!

I hope you had a lovely Easter and ready for all the fun of Summer 1! There is lots of fun learning this half term to keep us busy over the next six weeks.

This half term we will be geographers, comparing where we live in Leyland, England with the Maasai Mara in Kenya, Africa. In DT this term, we will be tasting and making our own Dips and Dippers! In Science, we will be studying resistant and everyday materials in chemistry and researching all about our resident scientist John McAdam.

PE days this term will be:

 Tuesday and Thursday

Snapshots Of Our Learning

This half term we have been super busy with our learning! In Science we have been learning all about different inventors and then we visited the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. In PE, the Sports Coaches have taught us lots of different dance routines and we even had a go at dodgeball. In DT we made bird box models using lots of different materials. For Children's Mental Heath week we had a yoga teacher come in and do a special yoga session. We even had snow this half term!

This half term we have been super busy with our learning! In PE, the Sports Coaches have taught us lots of different multi-skills. In Science, we have been busy learning about different types of plants, labelling plants and we even had a go at planting them! In History, we learnt all about Leyland and what it was like in Leyland in the past. We went on a local walk around Leyland to see how it had changed over the years. We also had a visitor tell us all about what it was like when she went to school.

This half term we have been super busy with our learning! In Art, we have taken photos using the iPads and then discussed our photos with our friends. In PE, the Sports Coaches have taught us basketball, gymnastics and multi-skills. In Science, we have been learning about our five senses. We have experimented with taking our jumpers on and off without using our eyes; we have tasted lemons and described what they tasted like; we have used our sense of touch to feel different items in our classroom.
