Curriculum

Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Suggested Intent 2023-2024

At Leyland Methodist Schools, it is our intention to build on an exceptional and robust Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum that is; AMBITIOUS- not only with teaching and learning standards, but also behaviour and most importantly, outcomes for our children.

Our unique and tailor-made curriculum aims to provide a RICH, LANGUAGE-FILLED, SAFE and DIVERSE environment. One which encourages EVERY child in our care to achieve THEIR potential, regardless of their starting points in life.

Within our Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum, we want our children to:

  • Benefit from a VOCABULARY RICH reading and writing curriculum that encourages ALL children to foster a real LOVE of reading for pleasure
  • Feel supported and NURTURED in a risk-sensible learning environment where we facilitate our children to develop their CURIOUS minds and their RESILIENCE when facing challenges
  • ASK QUESTIONS about; themselves, their world around them, their roots, their culture, their next steps on the path to potential
  • Develop a genuine LOVE and THIRST for ASPIRATIONAL goals, regardless of their starting points and backgrounds
  • ABSORB and EMBRACE a wider Curriculum that helps them develop as people, citizens and future leaders
  • Learn to SERVE each other, their FAMILY and their wider community with God’s LOVE at the heart of our Methodist ETHOS
  • LOVE- themselves and others; limitlessly and without prejudice.
Our Ethos and Values Statement
