Summer 1

Ticket to Ride

We are so excited to explore our learning  together during our new unit: Ticket to Ride. We will be learning all about the town that we live in, as well as how to get around it by exploring different types of maps. We will also learning about different places in the UK, such as London! Another key focus will be learning about religions such as Islam, Hinduism, and Catholicism. We will be looking at how people all across the world have different beliefs.

On our Class Page you will be able to see all of the information that you need to find out about our learning throughout our time together. If you scroll to the bottom you can see our 'book hooks' and news! Please see Our Weekly Learning Blog tab for updates, and our Curriculum Newsletter for the overview of learning for Summer 1.

Please check Dojo for regular updates and notices. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact us via Dojo or email.

World Book Day

08/03/2024

We have had a great day celebrating our love for reading. We enjoyed dressing up and talking about our favourite books, as well as exploring story based learning throughout the school day. We even took part in a parade with KS1 to show off our super efforts!

Fun in the (almost) Sun!
05.03.24

We are very excited that the weather is finally starting to warm up and dry out a little bit. We’ve taken full advantage of this by exploring even more learning opportunities in our outdoor area by brightening it up with some painting! The children decided that the tyres would look much better “rainbow”, so used a range of colours and resources to decorate them. We’ve also been retelling our favourite stories in the reading shed; building vehicles from the past as part of our UTW learning; and using our reasoning skills to create our own towers.

Run, run as fast as you can!

08/01/24

Uh oh! This video footage was caught in the staffroom of a little man jumping out of the oven and running away! Who is he? Where is he going? We look forward to the children's reactions this week as the Gingerbread Man sends us postcards from his current location. We may even have to create some 'wanted posters' so that we can try to get him back!

Stuck in the mud!

13/11/23

It’s been a very muddy first Forest School but the children were absolutely super! They really enjoyed exploring their surroundings, experimenting in the mud kitchen, looking for bugs, building dens, and discovering dinosaur eggs. Here are some of the snaps that we took during all of the excitement! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Autumn is upon us!

16/10/23

Thank you so much to everyone that has donated Autumnal items from their weekend walks. ๐Ÿ˜Š The children have enjoyed exploring the natural world in lots of different ways; we have set up an investigation station, Autumnal small world for story telling, fine motor activities and ‘Autumn soup’ in the water tray. ๐Ÿ‚ ๐Ÿ We will show you all of our exciting Autumn themed learning on Our Weekly Learning Blog on Friday.

Can we take your order, please?

09/10/2023

As our All About Me unit comes to a close, we have based our role play area this week on a familiar place. When we asked the children where their favourite place in Leyland was, the majority replied with "McDonald's". So we have opened our very own!

A HUGE thank you to the team at McDonald's in Leyland for donating some of their packaging to us, to help make our role play come to life.

LOOK WHAT HAS ARRIVED IN EYFS! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜ฎ

19/09/2023

Yesterday during snack there were a few seeds left on the floor, and today when we came into school something ginormous had grown! Can you talk to your adult at home about this mysterious object? What else can you spot around it? How might this link to our learning this week?

We can't wait to hear your answers!

We've been making a splash!

18/09/2023

We were eager to get outside this afternoon after the heavy rain started off our Monday morning. The children were very intrigued by the puddles and mud that the shower had left, so it wasn't long before the wellies were on and the splashing begun! We really enjoyed investigating how our outdoor area had changed as a result of the heavy rain.

Look what's arrived in EYFS!

11/09/23

What has happened here? Who made this big mess? What is all over the floor? Where do you think this is? When did it happen?

Can you help us solve the mystery for this week’s story? ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ‍โ™€๏ธ

New Starters

September 2023

We’re really looking forward to seeing you in our classroom on Monday!

We are conscious that some children may not have had a chance to come and have a look around school before summer. With this in mind, we have created a little video for each class giving a short tour of your new classroom.

We hope you enjoy watching your journey together and we cannot wait to greet you at the door on Monday 4th September 2023.
