Welcome to Year 5

Can you believe we are now in the second half of the Spring term? There are lots of exciting experiences happening during the six weeks including World Book Day, Science Week and an interactive workshop (all will be revealed soon).

In English, we will be developing our story writing skills and using our Viking knowledge to write Norse Myths. We will also be putting our debating skills to the text and writing a balanced discussion on the Amazon Rainforest.

Our new Geography unit focuses on the Amazon, which we will also be exploring in Art. In Science, we will be studying the planets and our solar system.

 Throughout this academic year, we aim to provide your children with exciting and memorable learning opportunities which will enrich their school experience. We love to share our learning with Parents/Guardians, therefore, please ensure you are checking for regular updates on class DOJO and ‘Our Learning’ tab on our class page on the school website.

Important Information:

• PE is on a Tuesday (Swimming) and  (Indoor).
• Please ensure that your child attends school in their correct PE kit (red PE jumper/white t-shirt/black shorts/joggers/black trainers or pumps).
• Homework will be provided weekly on a Tuesday (commencing 08.01.24) and will need to be completed and returned to school the following Monday.
• Spellings will be tested each Monday.
• Twenty minutes of reading per night is recommended.
